Day 1 (prompt: curse or blessing)
I curse you
That you will step on that one stray
lego
with your bare foot
That when you reach for sugar
It will turn to salt
That every penny you find
will be unlucky
I curse you
With clumps in your yoghurt
With knots in your hair
With a cough that never really goes
away (like the one you nursed me through)
With memories of those worst
moments you wish you could forget.
I curse you with the plague
of never quite being comfortable
as you adjust your sheets,
of never quite having
enough milk in your cereal,
of never quite being able to forget
my face as I walked away.
I walk along, the forest's silent here
Pale birches, silent sentries, form a lane
They watch me as I go, they shed no tear
The seasons change, still I can't run from pain
The trees, they know the dances of the spheres
They know the moon will wax and then will wane
They know these things they cannot change nor steer
To run from grief's like running from the rain
Yet I cannot accept or comprehend
How is it that the babbling brook can speak
Using your voice? I almost feel your hand
Upon my arm; remembrance makes me weak
However if I run, if I forget
I'll save myself but lose you once again
